Understanding Arthritis (Sandhigata Vata & Amavata)

Ayurveda classifies joint issues broadly into two main categories: Amavata (Rheumatoid Arthritis) which involves toxins (Ama) and Sandhigata Vata (Osteoarthritis) which involves wear and tear (Vata aggravation).

Key Symptoms

  • Severe joint pain, swelling, and redness
  • Morning stiffness and restricted mobility
  • Popping or cracking sounds in joints (Crepitus)
  • Joint deformities in chronic stages

Our Treatment Protocol

1. Janu Basti & Kati Basti

Retaining warm medicated oil over targeted joints (like knees or spine) to lubricate cartilage, improve circulation, and drastically relieve pain.

2. Patra Pinda Sweda (Elakizhi)

A highly effective pain-relief massage using potlis (bundles) of fresh herbal leaves dipped in warm oil to reduce stiffness and inflammation.

3. Ama Pachana

For Rheumatoid conditions, we administer specialized detox herbs to break down accumulated toxins (Ama) internally.

Recovery Timeline

Initial pain relief and reduced stiffness are typically observed within the first 7 to 14 days of continuous Panchkarma therapy. Significant long-term mobility improvement may require a customized plan of 1 to 3 months.
